“For the first time, the third issue of Quaderni di Pedagogia e Comunicazione Musicale has its own title: Lo specchio di Euridice. Riflessi della musica nelle dimensioni educative. Its pages contain the proceedings from the national conference of the same name organised by SIEM (The Italian Association for Music Education) on 12th March 2016 in Macerata. Although this edition is a monograph, the subject is anything but limited in scope. Under the sign of Eurydice, the conference conducted a comprehensive study on music and explored the various dimensions of experiencing sound: psychic, hermeneutic and educational. These fields of interests are mirrored in the three sections discussed during the conference (Specchi della Psiche, Specchi ermeneutici, Specchi pedagogici- Psychic Mirrors, Hermeneutic Mirrors, Educational Mirrors-). The choice was, therefore, to provide various perspectives in a comprehensive study that raises more questions than it answers. Yet, this is the reason why this study may be more interesting than specialized or sectorial topics. This very idea led Maria Elisabetta Bucci to give the book this evocative and non-conventional title, which whets one’s appetite for asking questions and investigating further in the wake of the highly symbolic content presented.”
