The activities of the EUM intercept the interests and strategic objectives of the territory in which the University of Macerata is located. They therefore intend to promote a rootedness in the geographical context of belonging and an openness to the needs of the civic community of reference.

Publications that focus on the enhancement of the material and intangible heritage of the territory and dialogue with local institutions are encouraged, in order to foster the social, economic and cultural development of the reference communities.

The relationship with the territory is also strengthened through the realisation of public events and cultural initiatives available to the entire community, which become a privileged space for the formation of critical thought, intercultural dialogue, and the promotion of values based on freedom of thought, full respect for diversity, and democracy.
