The complexity of knowledge and specialization of knowledge are a challenge in the age of globalization, even for the university: a disappointing and magnificent community and institution, publicly committed to transforming a vocation into a profession, at the borderline between science and wisdom, tradition and innovation, autonomy and responsibility. The book, conceived as a letter addressed to a student who is not very imaginary, suggests a path between seriousness and irony, combining biography and reflection, through five fundamental verbs (meeting, understanding, searching, communicating and generating), through critical thinking and a broadening of horizons, ever poised between big questions and small answers.
