On of the hurdles facing the institutions of Europe is to adapt to changes presenting crucial challenges for the whole European project, such as employment, economic governance, and immigration. They must also take advantage of available opportunities by promoting grassroots decision making while ever widening the sphere of citizens involved. This is a crucial moment in the redesign of the future balance within the EU as well as the raison d’etré of its political, economic and cultural relaunch. The book focuses on the issue of reflecting on the role of information in Italy, in order to promote awareness of the opportunities offered by the EU through its new 2014-2020 programme of European structural and investment funds. The book gathers contributions made by authors who differ in education, background and experience, yet they all know the internal workings of the EU at different levels. It also offers practical tools for utilizing and managing community funds.
